Accessories Monday: Jewerly Box Basics

Happy Monday friends, How many of us have jewelry that we inherited or got as gifts, everyone that knows me knows that when my grandmother, the late Mrs. Ruth Poythress passed away, she left me all of her jewelry. There were some beautiful pieces and some crazy pieces. But everyone jewelry collection is different. What are the basics that should be in every jewelry box.....pearls, studs, stones/birth stone and wild card. Pearls- Are a classic staple in any jewelry box. You don't have to have a whole set but at least earrings and a necklace.
Studs- Are tiny earring that can be anything from a star to shoe. They can be worn daily and mixed and matched to add interest to your look.
Birthstones- Every girl needs her birthstone in as many pieces of jewelry possible, hopefully you have a cool stone like me rubies anybody....
Wildcard- Your wildcard pieces are the pieces that will spark conversation and interest.
It takes years to build a full jewelry collection, maybe a lifetime, however as long as you begin with the basics you will be on your way to being on the path to leaving something special. Have a great week! Always your girl JeniqueK

Style Champion Saturday: How to go vintage without looking frumpy

So you want to go vintage, but where do you start, what is vintage, whats going to look good on me? Well first, vintage is a style of clothing that is at least 20 years old. If you are one of the lucky fashion chicas, like myself you have a fabulous mom and awesome aunties that you can borrow clothes and purses from. I love vintage, there is nothing better then going to your favorite thrift store and finding the perfect piece and paying next to nothing for it. But how do you wear that look with out it looking frumpy? The 3 main things to remember are fit, fabric and details. Fit- A lot of vintage pieces may have lost their shape or so from wash, wear, or whatever. Don't be afraid to spend the money to get something tailored. Also, something as simple as a belt can make all the difference in the world.
Fabric- Don't be afraid to feel your way through the racks. Tweed, leather, velvet and wool are some of the wonderful finds you can use to piece together your look. Just make sure you get it dry cleaned before your wear it.
Details- How many times have you heard it's all in the details, it's true. The littlest details like beading, stitching and even buttons can make the difference.
I love vintage, but it is very important to understand the era you are wearing, and to incorporate modern pieces, you don't want to look like you are wearing a costume. It's perfectly fine to go as light or as far with it, just have fun with it and don't forget to complete your look with hair and makeup.

Ask JeniqueK Tuesday: Must wear items for love day

Hello Friends, As we all know this is Valentine week, for those who have a boo thang to share this week with we have to make sure you have on the right jewelry, just incase you are gifted with more jewelry. But for my single by choice sisters like myself, then is no reason to not look flawless.
Okay so you and your man are celebrating keep your jewelry soft and personal. Wear anything he may have gotten you, keep it delicate and save room for new jewelry. So you are single or like me, single by choice, is it a bad thing to go out and be seen, of course not. Go out, be seen, make a statement with your jewelry. Wear hearts, red, pink, white, whatever to show the you are NOT bitter, lol.
So if you are in love or just want to be, dress the part, where personal pieces or conversation pieces, just don't forget to have kissable lips.
Love always your girl JeniqueK

Sunday Funday Special: Superbowl Fab!

Happy Sunday Friends, As many of you know, I am a Steelers fan, but unfortunately they did not make it to the Superbowl this year, however I am going to be enjoying myself at a party or two or three depending on where the night takes me. Having said that, what to wear, what to wear.....well there are three standards I try to follow, rep your team, home girl chic and comfy diva glam. These looks are very easy to pull off, are the same look just elevated and are all very affordable. Rep your team- Representing your team is the noble route to take however long gone are the oversize jerseys and face paint. Now we have more fitted team tees, team heels and my personal favorite anything off the shoulder. With this, turn it up with colored denim, glitter chucks, a maxi skirt or pencil skirt. Keep it girly!
Home girl chic- Home girl chic is to rep your team but focuses on colors more. You can wear the colors of the team, but keep it relaxed. Also rock a midi dress with a pair of chucks or a pair of boyfriend jeans with your best colored pumps.
Comfy diva glam- The look I am mostly going to wear is fab, you wear monotone, black, taupe, grey, navy any kind of neutral, but your accessories are the accent, bright high heels, amazing colored bag and you better not forget your lips! Blazer, over the top jewelry and don't worry about wear any teams colors, because you are a diva, you make the rules, you never follow them.
Each look is made for a certain girl, wedges, oxfords, moto jackets all of those thing are great to add but just make sure your face is beat, beat, beat! Have fun and go Steelers......I mean Seahawks, for now! Forever your girl, JeniqueK
