Misc. Fridays: The Peplum look, still......

Happy Friday friends, Peplum, peplum, peplum yes honey is still hot for 2014. This is probably the one style that really looks great on everyone. I love the versatility of the style from the dress, top, skirt, etc... The dress is amazing because it is all in one, I really love this look on my thicker girls because it features the curves.
The top looks great with jeans, skirts, shorts, just try not to pair it up with a baggy bottom.
My favorite looks with the skirt is a good old fashion wife beater, but like the top, try not to have a baggy top.
The cool this about this style is that it extends to jackets, pants and swimwear.
I am excited that this trend is still trending and the fact that 2 of my favorite designers Charlene Bendu Dunbar www.suakokobetty.com and Archel Bernard www.itsarchel.com add a certain Liberian twist keeps me always looking my best. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. Stay Fab! Always your girl JeniqueK

Misc Friday: Hot Trend to watch Full Skirts

Happy Friday friends, Ooooooh there is nothing more lady like then a full skirt, a great pair of heels, high bun and red lip. I love it! With spring now here, with a great way to freshen your look. A belt is a great way to create a waist and break up the style. When selecting your skirt style, be careful with the length. Luckily I am over 6 feet and can wear any length I want, but for those who are not, shorter girls, stay away from the midi, it will make you look frumpy!
Play with fabrics, the full skirt comes in textures like sheer and leather, mix it up and have fun.
Finally, don't limit your full skirt, try an all in one dress with a full skirt.
Please don't forget the great heels
High bun and red lip
Have fun this spring! Forever your girl JeniqueK

Style Champion Saturday: The trick to wearing ruffles

Happy Saturday friends, Spring is near and Lord knows we are ready for it. In that, what speak to a fashionista like to flounce and bounce of ruffles. I love ruffles and actually own quite a few pieces myself, but I understand my body shape and love textures and fabrics. A well placed ruffle can create interest to your favorite body part. My top 4 ways to wear ruffles are dresses, tops, skirts and accessories. With a dress, all the work is done. It's one piece and with the help of a belt and a great pair of heels you can be on your way.
I love ruffle tops because you can be bold and wear it alone or with a fitted sweater to create a shape.
The ruffle skirt is the most popular of all the looks. As popular as it is the most challenging to work with. Ruffles add weight to any body type, knowing that you have to be careful to consider your entire look by wearing a fitted top with a more flowy skirt and adding a belt to create a waist and lastly to wear heels to make your legs look longer.
Finally finishing touch, ruffle accessories. If the ruffles are too much for you, you can have more control with accessories.
The key to wearing ruffles is moderation. Play with colors and textures but it never hurts to have ruffles for personal fun.....

Accessories Monday: The Truth about Scarves

Happy Monday Friends, One of my favorite transition pieces is a scarf. It can keep you warm, add interest to a look and be the finishing touch all at the same time. There are 3 that I love in particular and should always be in your closet, the standard knit scarf, silk scarf and the infinity scarf. The standard knit scarf comes in a trillon colors and you can tie it in as many ways colors as it comes in.
I love the silk scarf because on top of wearing it around your neck, you can combine with a blazer and wear it on your head without damaging your hair.
Last but not least, the infinity scarf is a continuous scarf. It pretty much styles itself. It's the easiest to work with.
The scarf is a cheap investment that you can't lose by having in your closet, just have fun layering and playing around with to find the look that works for you. Always your girl, JeniqueK
