Ok, so boy/girl chic is basically us having fun with menswear. This isn't anything new. I believe we first saw this trend in the late 1930's when women wore the big shoulder pads and pant suits. Katherine Hepburn made this look famous.

The trend was in and out through the decades, more fashion icons we can reference are Annie Lennox

and Grace Jones,

the 90's had the grunge look.

So we in this 2011 are very lucky because the selections now are soooo much better to achieve this look; however unfortunately this look translates better on on tall girls and girls that are not curvy or short, but don't get mad yet, you can add some key pieces to your closet to pull it off.
So lets start from the top. You need some kind of hat. The 2 styles of hats that work the best are the fedora and the paper boy hat. Keep it neutral or black, no crazy colors.

You need a layer besides your shirt so jackets, blazers or vests are a must have.
If you chose to go with a jacket go hardware, motorcycle style, leather, studs, buckles etc...
My personal favorite is the blazer, go with tweed or wool, they create enough of an edge with out looking like you are trying to hard.

The vest is the trickiest of the 3, actually go with a man's vest( thrift stores are a gold mine). With the vest you can't have too much chest and also you want to make sure its not too short.
With this look your pants can't be tight so no leggings, jeggings, skinny jeans etc... wide leg, relaxed fit and boyfriend jeans are what you want.

Shoes and accessories can be feminine or masculine, you can wear stilettos or loafers and everything in between. Some go for boyfriend watches, stud earrings, spiked bracelets, have fun with it.

This is a fun look just keep it light and sexy and please, please make sure that face is beat! Trust your girl and you will always turn heads.
Always your girl
