Make me dewy.....

The dewy look, if its done right, you look sun kissed, dreamy, and like you are dreaming of sunshine. If done wrong you look like a sweaty mess.
So let me show you how to do it right:
So the first thing you want is a clean base so wash, tone and moisturize and you would normally do
Next you to apply your base, for my lighter skin girls a sheer tinted moisturizer work great, it leaves you skin looking supple. For my darker skin girls liquid or mineral foundation works for you. You want your base to looker light, cream foundations are made for full coverage and you can still use it but you would have to mix it with your moisturizer to come close to that look.
You want to make sure your brows are on point, they are the natural frame to your face and it pulls the look in so feel free to fill in your brows.
Blush is a super must with this look. Your cheeks need to look flushed or rosie, cream blush is the key to that look. Apply it light because it is always easier to add more then take away.
Keep you eyeshadow soft and shimmery, stay away for blue, black, purple, etc... stay with earth tone that have shimmer. Don't forget to dab a little under your eyes to blend in almost like a highlighter.
Finally your lips, if your want to stay natural, do a nude lip, if you want to be a little more sexy go with a stained lip. No bold colors.
This is a very simple look but it tricky to pull off, it works the best with girls with combination skin, with oily skin it will only look greasy, with dry skin you would have to still keep checking on it to make sure its still dewy from time to time. As always have fun with it, if its not for you its okay, wipe it off. Take care.

Your good, you can mix gold and silver.

So who told you it was wrong to mix metals mainly silver and gold? I love mixing gold and silver, it is fresh, cool and unexpected. Trust your girl and I will have you looking on trend or in a class of your own.
The first thing you need to know is that less is more, you don't want overkill with rings, watches, bracelets and necklaces, one of two things will happen, you will look like you robbed somebody and trying to resell the goods or you will look like a big ole glitter ball....either way not a good look.
When mixing metals do one of each like gold earrings with silver cuffs and a bronze necklace, make sure your outfit is simple this look good awesome with jeans and a white tee-shirt or a mono-tone outfit. Another cool style is to layer a ton of mixed metal necklaces and just wear a pair of studs.
Again keep the outfit simple, the necklace is the focus.
For my chicas that want to try this trend but are a little scared, no worries, a lot of the jewelry comes already mixed, the hard part is done but with this you can go a little further with putting together your clothes.
Try wearing textures like leather, suede and fur, it gives it a very sophisticated look, but don't wear all at once you will look like you are trying to hard.
For my super conservative mamas you can still be on trend forget jewelry, add a clutch, those come in mixed metal too, it adds just enough sparkle with out taking you out of your comfort zone.
This is a fun look especially for fall and holiday events, you want to always have fun with this, take it as far as your can stand but remember if you don't like it... its okay, take it off. Hope your Thanksgiving was as awesome as mine was and as always keep it FAB!

Ooooh the power of the perfect smokey eye

The eyes, the most powerful feature on a woman's' face. We as women know this and we use this in everyday life, but few of us know the power of a smokey eye. A smokey eye is seductive, alluring, and dramatic, but how do you do for you with out looking like you are trying too hard.
So people will tell you that smokey eyes are only for evening or special events but that is not true. The 2 main things is using good product and the building of that product on your eyes. When creating a smokey eye you need pigment rich eyeshadow or pigments, eyeliner and mascara. For a day time look you want to use a neutral base on the entire lid. Next you want to decide what color your are going to smoke your eye with, for day time brown and grays work perfect because you can build on more or even a darker color for evening. You want to use a medium shadow brush. Apply the shadow from the lash line to the middle of the middle of the crease. Next you want to use a blending brush to blend your shadows together until it creates another color. Always use a black liner it really defines the shape of you eye better. Finish by highlighter the brow bones and the inner corner of your eyes, that adds a last minute brightness and the mascara seals the deal.
For evening, black is classic but try blending in a metallic shadow. The thing to be the most careful with is the falling of loose shadow on your face. For that apply loose powder heavy until your eyes so you can brush it away when you are done.
Have fun with this try colors other then black, brown and gray, it just makeup, if you don't like it you can always, always wipe it off.
Eyes are the windows to your soul...well, that what they say so make sure the whole frame is beautiful, the eyebrows, the skin, the lips they all work together. You want to look like a raccoon or even worst, like you got punched in the face!
Keep it fab!

Boy/Girl Chic

Ok, so boy/girl chic is basically us having fun with menswear. This isn't anything new. I believe we first saw this trend in the late 1930's when women wore the big shoulder pads and pant suits. Katherine Hepburn made this look famous.
The trend was in and out through the decades, more fashion icons we can reference are Annie Lennox
and Grace Jones,
the 90's had the grunge look.
So we in this 2011 are very lucky because the selections now are soooo much better to achieve this look; however unfortunately this look translates better on on tall girls and girls that are not curvy or short, but don't get mad yet, you can add some key pieces to your closet to pull it off.
So lets start from the top. You need some kind of hat. The 2 styles of hats that work the best are the fedora and the paper boy hat. Keep it neutral or black, no crazy colors.

You need a layer besides your shirt so jackets, blazers or vests are a must have.
If you chose to go with a jacket go hardware, motorcycle style, leather, studs, buckles etc...
My personal favorite is the blazer, go with tweed or wool, they create enough of an edge with out looking like you are trying to hard.
The vest is the trickiest of the 3, actually go with a man's vest( thrift stores are a gold mine). With the vest you can't have too much chest and also you want to make sure its not too short.
With this look your pants can't be tight so no leggings, jeggings, skinny jeans etc... wide leg, relaxed fit and boyfriend jeans are what you want.
Shoes and accessories can be feminine or masculine, you can wear stilettos or loafers and everything in between. Some go for boyfriend watches, stud earrings, spiked bracelets, have fun with it.
This is a fun look just keep it light and sexy and please, please make sure that face is beat! Trust your girl and you will always turn heads.

How to wear sheer....correctly!

Sooooooo wearing sheer, I know, I know, its not just for the bedroom or only in spring or summertime, but that is not the case.Sheer clothing is by no means a new phenomenon. The greatest advantage of this trend is that it can be incorporated into your wardrobe in countless ways—from sheer blouses, to semi-sheer maxis—to inject sexiness into an outfit without having to reveal too much sheer actually can be worn almost year around. There are 3 ways to sport this look:

For my daring fashion girls mainly if you body lets you,a sheer blouse with a bra or a dress with a sheer top is fab-u-lous if again you are blessed with gravity defining breast, flat stomach and a great smile. You know who you are. That was me 10 years ago.
For my trendy girl that want to let a little to the imagination layer it up with a vest or blazer, go with a floral or printed sheer, also girls sheer doesn't have to be fitted, remember that. This look is also very forgiving to less then perfect and bigger bodies.
For my less daring chics, trust me, its cool try pieces that are partially sheer, less is definitely more. You can still be on trend and be modest, please don't forget that tip.
The sheer trend is an easy one to get very wrong, so work it on the side of sultry, not slutty. With sheer you still need to make good use of accessories and quality pieces. Exposed bras are great so unless you’re on a runway, for the love of God and yourself please wear one! How ever you wear it, wear it with confidence and killer heels, love you, mean it....

How to keep great skin

So when I turned 16 I got two things for my birthday, a pair of gold ram earrings and a jar of Olay. Because of that I have programed in myself great habits to maintain my skin. Everyone may not have an awesome and proactive mom like me but that's ok, its never to late to be in the habit of good skin.
First you want to determine what type of skin you have, generally there are 3 types:

If your skin is always greasy or shiny even after your morning wash, shiny even after you have powdered and blotted, or even prone to break outs chances are you have oily skin. For you always wash your face daily with oil free products, always use a toner and always moisturize. Using a mask twice a week helps also train and refresh your skin.
If your skin is always tight after your wash, flaking and peeling chances are you have dry skin. For you, moisture rich products are a must have. You don't have to use a toner but you definitely need to moisturize.
If your skin is generally oily in your T-Zone and normal or dry on your cheeks or even vice-verse you have combination skin. For you there are tons of products available for combination and normal skin. You want to wash daily, use a good toner or witch hazel(which I swear by for your info)and do a mask once a week.
If you have never had a break out, your skin feels perfectly supple after each wash and your complexion is always perfect and glows, chances are you are perfect
and we hate you, no just kidding. Keep doing what you are doing and keep it fabulous. Until we chat again
