The art of a beautiful blouse
Happy Saturday friends, so a blouse is something that should be a staple in every woman's closet. Some may think of it as something your granny wore to work back in the day, but with the styles and trends in today's world it is a must have. When deciding on this look you want to pick a pattern, style and or fabric.
Patterned blouses are blouses that focus mainly on pattern, depending on that, you can wear it with anything, however if the pattern is particularly loud or crazy, top with a blazer to take the edge off.
Style blouses and blouses that may have a bow with the collar, may have ruffles, cool pockets or may have a little something extra to not make it look as classic. Pair these with your favorite jeans.
Fabric blouses are my personal favorite, they no longer come in the standard cotton, chiffon, silk, jersey to name a few. It takes a little bite more creativity to wear these, but have fun with it.
Blouses are a fashion staple that is only going to get better with time. Even the classic blouse has had its own changes.
Remember its all about the fit, if you have long monkey arms like myself, short sleeve or 3/4 sleeves are our best friends(or you can just cuff your sleeves). The more flowy your blouse, either wear more fitted bottoms or add a belt. Don't feel like you have to tuck your shirt in, blouses now are created to accent our waists, not hide them. And last but never least, don't forget to press or steam that top, nothing worst then looking like you got dressed in the dark! Be fab!

Booties vs. Boots
Happy monday friends, as we are now in the thick of winter, it is time to figure out your shoe weapon of choice! Are you a bootie girl or a boots girl? For some of us it's an easy choice, others do both, but for those undecided, I am here to help you.
I am a boots girl to my heart! I love fall because I can rock my uniform of slouch boots, skinny jeans and a henley shirt, usually white or green....but that is neither here or there. I love the variety of styles they come in.
Calf boot are becoming popular this season, however they can be a little weird to style because the fall between the ankle and the knee, they do look great with pencil skirts and leggings.
Knee boots are the most popular mainly because they look great on EVERYONE, the only issue is if you wear a patient leather pair with a heel higher than 3 inches it could look a little trashy, unless that's the look you are going for.....
Thigh boots, my personal favorite are still popular from last season, these are NOT for everyone, the taller you are the better, they make your longs go on for days, if you have bigger thighs, you could look like a stuffed sausage, they look the trendest with leggings and a blazer or sweater, something effortless.
You also have sub-styles like Uggs or sloughs those are always in season.
With booties, because there is less shoe the focus is on the heel or the little extras. Booties are great because they look great with everything but a couture gown.
Wedge heel booties are a hot trend mainly color blocking. This looks great with a monochromatic outfit.
Studded booties are a great way to add some edge to any look.
Coloered booties give you a chance to play with color without going overboard.
Folded booties are a new trend, sometimes its a fold or more of a design, the key is the more detailed the shoe, the simplier your outfit.
Last but never least don't forget playing with textures....enough said!
I could go on and on but the best way to decide is what works for your lifestyle. Just invest in quailty piece, take a chance with something you wouldn't normally wear, wear your booties with thigh socks....well get what I'm saying. Have fun with this a always get your boots and or booties a size bigger for your socks! Love you, mean it

Lets clean out that makeup case, you can't keep that makeup forever.....
Happy Wednesday friends, today we are going to chat about something I have been getting lots of questions about, how long do you keep makeup? Like a lot of things in this world, all makeup has expiration dates, you can't keep it forever. I know some of us are pack rats and may have spent in our opinion a lot of money for certain products but you still can't keep it forever, so here we go:
1)The average life spand for any foundation and or concealer is about 12 months to 18 months depending on what type. Cream foundations will last closer to 18 months while liquid foundation is more like 12.
2)Powders and blushes are a little different, they can last up to 2 years however cream blush has a self life of about 1 year.
3)Lipsticks last for about 2 years but if you use lip pencils with your lipstick it can go for about 2 years also. Sharpen all your pencils before every use.
4)Eyeshadows range from 1 to 2 years powder shadows will last closer to 2 years where as the cream and liquid shadows last closer to the year.
5) Mascara my personal favorite unfortunatly has the shortest life spam, 3 months.
It is important to properly store your makeup in a cool dry place, this will add a little more time to those dates but it will also help with bacteria. Most women have a summer shade and a winter shade, so be mindful of that too. If you buy your makeup in bulk, cool, just understand the when you open it the clock starts ticking. Understand that if you keep using old makeup it can lead to breakouts on your skin as well as infections with your eyes. Last but not least lashes, please for the love of God don't reuse lashes more than 3 times, that is just unclean and cheap. Remembers if you use you makeup everyday to be FAB, you won't have much to throw away....Love you, mean it!

Cross-Over Body Bag a true JeniqueK must have
I have recently become hip to the cross over body bag, I'm sure there a shortier name for it including "Hands -Free Bag" but I choose to say cross over body bag. It comes in a varity of sizes but too small is a coin purse, lol and too big is actually luggage. So today I am talking about the two sizes in between, small and medium.
The small cross body bag is cool in the fact that it is cute for running errands as well as being fashionable. I tend to wear mine when going to outdoor events or when acting like a tourist somewhere because it is small enough for you to keep up with and keep you basics in, money, phone, gloss, condoms.....I'm just saying.
The medium cross I love for more local outtings. The farmers market, thrifting, outting with the kids mainly because on top of your basics, you can add your extras like snacks, Ipod, GPS....
These bags run anywhere from $15 to about $15,000, I know that is a huge gap but it's like anything else, it depends on the extras, canvas, leather, suede, studs, jewels, who the designers are....it could go on. The beauty it to find one in your budget that fits your needs because it is a true must have. Don't forget trift store.....

Red Pants........
I need a lot of us know what red bottom shoes are and one day my personal collection is going to be crazy, but until then, I will have to settle for the other red bottoms.....red pants. Now I know what you are thinking, how can you add red pants into your daily wardrobe? Believe it or not, it's easy! There are four looks that I personally rock myself.
1. Red pants with a blazer- Red pants with a blazer is the more conservative of the four looks, it add a touch of class and is great for the office.
2. Red pants with a white top- Red pants with a white top is the most classic combination. White is a neutral and it goes with everything, it is the safiest of this look to pull off and still be cool.
3. Red pants with a nude top-Red pant with a nude top is my favorite because it is a twist on the classic. It is cool enough to turn heads but chic enough spark conversation.
4.Red pants with a patterned top- Red pants with a patterned top is for my real fashionistias, the trick is to not have red in the pattern, it looks total effortless! This look is fresh and cool, works for hanging with friends or date night.
This look works year round, the main thing is to make sure you choose the right pants for your body type and the fit is perfect. Also choose a shade of red that works with your skin tone. Take a chance of fashion, it will never let you down.
Forever your girl,
JeniqueK
